Practices begin at the end of March and are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Games will take place on Saturdays come early May with our season wrapping up at the end of June.

4. Where can I get more information on coaching?

*Please see the Coaches Corner tab for information.*

We require ALL coaching staff to submit an application via the GPPWFL Online Registration platform. Any coaches above the age of 18 years of age must provide a VSR (Vulnerable Sector Check) *NO CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK MEANS NO COACHING.*

All community minor coaches (U14) regardless of discipline must become community coach trained in 2024. Please see the COACHES CORNER tab for NCCP Requirements.

2024: All Coaches coaching athletes under the age of 14 must be “Community Sport” trained.

5. My child would like to apply to be a Junior Coach. How can we proceed?

The Grande Prairie Pee Wee Football League requires all Junior Coaches to register online as a Coach. We ask that if the child has graduated from Pee Wee Football in the previous season that they take a gap year before applying as a Junior Coach.

6. Can my child play on the same team as they have in previous years?

Yes, we place all youth onto the team they have previously played on.

This allows a relationship to develop between the coach/s and the player/s.

However, if a returning player is registered late in the registration process, the GPPWFL reserves the right to place that player on another team if it is deemed necessary to balance the number of players/grades between the teams.

New players will be filtered through the teams based on year born. We strive to maintain equal number of ages and players amongst the teams

This is a house league program designed to develop the basic fundamentals that your player will use and grow on as they move through the levels of football, locally and beyond.

7. My child wants to be on the same team as their friend. Can this happen?

With consideration to team numbers, we can do our best to place your time on the same team as their friend in order to accommodate any ride sharing or social considerations. However, the parent registering the player MUST place a special request and pay the special request fee at the time of registration.

8. If the weather is bad (Raining/Snowing) do we still practice or play games?

Practice and or Games are only cancelled in the event that lightening is present. But in the event of a serious rain fall/snow coverage or unsafe conditions of the field, practices and/or games can be cancelled at the discretion of the GPPWFL. Safety is our first concern. Field conditions also will play into this, playing on a wet field is a safety issue and a field issue. Because we are at the mercy of the weather, the season can start later than scheduled, there will be every attempt to rebook times but this may not always be possible. There will be no compensation of fees if season has a late start or cancelled games/practices due to weather.
